Rachel Louise Rossin Thomas was born on July 24, 1955, in Lake City, Florida, to the late Dean and Jessie M. Rossin. On Thursday, October 9, 2025, she gained her Heavenly wings and entered into eternal rest.
Rachel graduated from Richardson High School, Class of 1973. After graduation, she continued her education at Lake City Community College in 1979. She later began a career with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, where she served faithfully for many years as a dispatcher until her retirement.
Rachel was a fun-loving, no-nonsense person who brought joy and laughter to those around her. She was known for her kindness, her honesty, and her ability to make everyone feel loved.
As a child, Rachel attended Deep Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Lake City, Florida. Later in life, she became a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church in MacClenny, Florida.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Jessie M. Rossin; her son, Sir Brian P. Cason; her brother, Dean Rossin, Jr.; and her sister, Dorothy Henry.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory three daughters: Cerese M. Cason, Lular J. Jackson, and Dena C. Moring (Johnny); one brother, Phillip Rossin, Sr. (Linda); eight grandchildren: Si’Erick Henry, Jerome Tucker, Jr., Jada Tucker, Journey Tucker, DeeAsia Lewis, Branden Bradley, Jameria White, and Chosyn Rossin; two great-grandchildren: Jamir White and Brayden Griffin; five nieces: LaToya Montgomery (Henry), Nakitha Ivory, Daisha Rossin, Alexia Henry, and Daiyah Dawson; five nephews: Phillip Rossin, Jr., Dean Rossin, Deonte Rossin, Anthony Henry, Jr., and Caleb Rossin; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
