Mr. Moses Johnson, affectionately known by many as a quiet source of wisdom, strength, and love, answered the call of his Lord and Savior on May 4, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on July 1, 1937, in Randolph County, Georgia, Moses was the beloved son of the late Roman Johnson and Essie May Johnson. At an early age, he committed his life to Christ and was baptized and a member of Little Baptist Church that is now known as Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church. His faith remained an important foundation throughout his life.
Mr. Johnson was a hardworking and dedicated man who faithfully worked for many years at Stephen Foster Memorial. He was respected for his strong work ethic, humble spirit, and kind heart.
Moses was preceded in death by his parents, Roman Johnson and Essie May Johnson; his brothers, John L. Johnson and Albert Johnson, both of Lake City, Florida; and his sister, Rosie Walters of Albany, Georgia.
He found great joy in spending time with family and treasured every family gathering. He was also known as Uncle Buddy, Mr. Buddy, and most importantly the family’s “Ram in the Bush.” Mr. Moses especially loved teaching his nephews how to hunt and fish safely, passing down knowledge, patience, and life lessons along the way. Some of his happiest moments were spent sitting outside during the early morning hours, listening to the birds sing, enjoying the warmth of the sunshine, and taking long walks with his beloved dog.
Although Mr. Moses had no children of his own, he became a father figure, mentor, and guiding presence to many of his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He shared a special bond with nieces Martha, Dora, Johnnie Mae, and Betty; nephews John and Michael; great-nieces Nicole, Tatiana, Jamiya, and Jasmine; and great-nephews Tyler, Johnathon, and Michael Jr. While many others were touched by his love and guidance, these were among those who grew up closest to him and were deeply impacted by his care and wisdom.
His loving memory will forever be cherished by his sister, Annie Ruth; nieces Stephanie, Annie Mae, and Addene; niece in-law Tanya; many beloved family members in Georgia; and a host of other relatives and dear friends whose lives were blessed by knowing him.
Mr. Moses Johnson’s legacy of faith, kindness, wisdom, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
