Don Felton Harris

Don Felton Harris entered this world on Friday, December 17, 1954 to Joe and Oleatha Carter-Harris.  On Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 6:50pm, Don answered The Master’s call and entered into eternal rest.

Don received his education in the public schools of Columbia County, graduating from Columbia High School with the class of 1974. He furthered his education by attending Lake City Community College where he received a certificate in welding in 1975.  Upon graduation he was employed by Quality Fabrications and Machine Works where he was a loyal and dedicated employee for 40 years until his health failed.

Don accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union AME Church under the Pastorage of the Late Rev. L.A. Ford.

Don was united in holy matrimony to Teresa Lynn Anthony on March 23, 2002.

Don was a member of Lake City Joy Riders Club and B & S Combs Lodge #1599.

Don’s love and compassion for his family was evident in his word and deeds. Each year during the Annual Carter-Lee Family Reunion, Don assisted his brother Keith in preparing and map out the hayride route on the Harris Estate as well as preparing food for the festivities on Saturday and Sunday evenings. His skills on the grill were excellent. Don was a farmer that planted an abundance of vegetables to share with his family and friends.

He was an avid sportsman that loved to hunt, trap and fish. To know him was to know that he was a die-hard University of Florida Gator Football fan. Being the older brother, he considered himself to be his mother and siblings’ protector. He will always be remembered for his gentle spirit and pleasing personality.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Harris, Jr.; his wife of 14 years Teresa Lynn Anthony-Harris and his brother, Keith Maurice Harris, Sr.

Left to cherish his memory: Mother Oleatha Carter-Harris, Lake City, FL; Sisters Angee Ford (Gerald) and Vickie Harris a special sister, caregiver and medical advocate that gave him unconditional love and attention during his illness; Lake City, FL; and Erma Morris (Johnnie), Monticello, FL.  Brothers: Carroll Harris (Shirley); Kendrick Harris (Vonda); Lake City, FL and Eric Harris (Aisha) Coco, FL; three aunts; Katie Carter, Riviera Beach, FL; Evelyn Grooms (Ross) Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Joyce Williams (Ervin), Lake City, FL; special friends Clarence “Sonny” Tucker, Calvin “Buck” Manning and Willie Frank Lee, Lake City, FL. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to cherish his memory.
