Mrs. Catherine Forshee Pierce was born on January 12, 1929, in Lake City, Florida to the late Ray Forshee and Mary (Douglas) Forshee. She was married to the late Sherman Pierce. She was preceded in the death by (2) brothers: Robert L. Timmons Sr. and William Forshee; her son Rhanda Pierce, Step-Daughter Narcissus Pierce, (2) Granddaughters: Treva Pierce and Brandi Rogers.
She had a wonderful 97th birthday celebration where many family members and friends came to celebrate her and rejoice with her. She made her peaceful transition on January 16, 2026, at HCA Florida-North Florida Hospital in Gainesville, Florida surrounded by loving family members.
She received Christ at an early age and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend C. C. Rawls, where she sang in the choir. She later joined Trinity United Methodist Church where she served as the church secretary and other capacities and has been a faithful member until her illness.
She was a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #322 and later transferred her membership to American Legion Post #57 both organizations located in Lake City, Florida. She was recently honored not only being one of the oldest members but also for her extensive service to veterans and the community for over 50 years.
She has held many leadership roles including becoming Post #322 President and eventually, District President, where she managed to juggle visits to various posts throughout the surrounding cities. In addition to her work with the Auxiliary, Mrs. Pierce found time to volunteer at the Veteran’s Hospital, where she appointed lead volunteer manager over the volunteer department and was later promoted as Representative for the American Legion. She was also a member of the Elks and Women’s Club of Lake City, Florida where she supported many activities during her tenure. Her legacy was one of service, laughter, and genuine care.
